Word to the Wise

Babies need to learn to like drinking water at a young age. When my son was just an infant, I asked his doctor if I could give him water bottles because he always had white residue on his tongue from the formula. She said that it was unnecessary because his formula had enough water in it. So he seriously only drank formula for the first year of his life. Once he was a year old I started giving him milk in place of his formula. At this point my son at never even been exposed to pure water, so as I attempted to get him to drink water; one can probably imagine the difficulties that I had to deal with. My son now has five cavities, and I feel like the worst mother in the world. I told the dentist that I have always diluted his juice and he has never had pop. Dentist said only water, no juice or milk unless at meals. Wow, this was fun attempting to get him adjusted. My advise to any new parent, make sure that your child is used to drinking a lot of water at a very young age.

My job as an admissions represenative

As an Admissions Representative, my main function is enrolling new students to start school. I work for a school that offers nine month certificate programs. I would have never thought that attending school full time for only nine months would be such a challenge for so many individuals. I have enrolled so many students who are "so committed" and they do not even make it for two months. I just can not for the life of me understand this. Most of the student who attend school here are only here because they do not have any other options. If this is their only option why does it seem to have no value at all for so many students?

Christmas Break

I do not know if I have ever been so excited for the Christmas season. My son is just over two years old, and watching his little face light up when he see's Santa on TV or a yard full of Christmas decorations, just makes life worth living. He calls Santa papa Ho-Ho...It is the funniest thing. This year he is big enough to open his own presents and comprehend the fact that he is getting gift to give away to his cousins as well. This is the first year that we have, as a new family; decorated the outside of our home and put a lot of effort into making it a memorable Christmas season. Boy was it ever worth it.

Story of my life

I have been working towards my Associate degree for just over two years now...I am over it!!! Between school and work I barley have any time for my family. I am so looking forward to taking six months off from school in between completing my Associates and starting my Bachelor degree. Winter is the last quarter I need to complete prior to my well deserved break. So I go into the financial aid office to apply for my fa for the winter quarter and they inform me that if I take six months off, I will face financial repercussions... Imagine that!
